Who the course is for
- Beginners who'll work with Power BI actively, every day or every week.
- Before the course we recommend a short knowledge test. It's optional, and we use it to adjust the program so nobody sits through material they already know.
Who it's not for
When another course suits you better
- You'll only open Power BI now and then. Power BI in a Day is enough for you.
- You already build semantic models. Data Modeling or Advanced DAX is for you.
What you take away
What you can do on Monday
- Prepare data in Power Query so the refresh runs on its own.
- Design a star schema model and set up the relationships.
- Write DAX measures, including CALCULATE and period comparisons.
- Manage the workspace, access and refresh in the Service.
Program
What the course covers
- Power Query
- Loading from multiple sources, merging and appending queries, parameters and query folding. Basic tuning and optimization of steps, the way Power Query evaluates queries, and incremental refresh.
- Data model
- Star schema, cardinality, filter direction and the calendar table. Active and inactive relationships.
- DAX
- Row and filter context, CALCULATE, time intelligence and the most common patterns.
- Power BI Service
- Workspaces, apps, sharing, gateways and scheduled refresh.
- Governance
- Who sees what, row-level security basics, and how to keep a workspace tidy.

The price is for the whole group, however many people attend. Demos and exercises run on your data if we agree on it before the training, otherwise on sample data. The price is the same either way.
After the course
What happens after the course
- The same test again. Anyone who took it before the course sees their progress in numbers.
- A call 30 days later. What made it into daily work and where people got stuck.
- A look at your model. On the call we can look at the model people work on after the course.
When the model misbehaves
Performance Audit
We measure slow reports and long refreshes and fix the most expensive spots. We back up the before and after with numbers.
FAQ
What you ask us most
- Can you train us on our own data?
- Yes, if we agree on the data before the training. The price is the same with or without your data. From experience we go for your data, because people know it and work with it more easily.
- Can the course run online?
- Yes, in person or online. The program is the same, the exercises are just split into shorter blocks.
- How many people can attend?
- We recommend 12 at most, so there's time to go through the exercises with everyone. The price is per group and doesn't depend on headcount.
- Do we get a certificate?
- We don't issue certificates. Anyone who takes the knowledge test before and after the course sees their progress in numbers. For the PL-300 certification, take our course PL-300 Exam Prep.
