Who it's for
Who the course is for
- Anyone who wants to get to know Power BI and find out what it's made of. You won't build reports regularly, but you want to understand them and make one now and then.
- Before the course we recommend a short knowledge test. It's optional, and we use it to adjust the program so nobody sits through material they already know.
Who it's not for
When another course suits you better
- You'll work in Power BI every day. Power BI Fundamentals is for you.
- You already build reports and want them faster. The in-depth courses are for you.
- You only read reports and make decisions based on them. Power BI for Managers is for you.
What you take away
What you can do on Monday
- Load data from Excel and from a database and clean it in Power Query.
- Connect tables into a simple model.
- Build a report with visuals that answer a question.
- Write basic DAX measures.
- Publish a report to the Service and share it with colleagues.

What the course covers
- Power Query
- Loading data from various sources, such as Excel, SharePoint or a database, and cleaning and shaping it. The steps are set up so they can refresh automatically.
- Data model
- Fact and dimension tables, relationships, and why a Power BI model isn't built as one big table.
- Visuals
- Which visual for which question, filters, and interactions between visuals.
- DAX basics
- Measures versus columns, SUM, COUNTROWS, DIVIDE and your first CALCULATE.
- Service
- Publishing, workspaces, sharing and scheduled refresh.

The price is for the whole group, however many people attend. Demos and exercises run on your data if we agree on it before the training, otherwise on sample data. The price is the same either way.
After the course
What happens after the course
- The same test again. Anyone who took it before the course sees their progress in numbers.
- A call 30 days later. What made it into daily work and where people got stuck.
- A look at your model. On the call we can look at the model people work on after the course.
When the model misbehaves
Performance Audit
We measure slow reports and long refreshes and fix the most expensive spots. We back up the before and after with numbers.
FAQ
What you ask us most
- Can you train us on our own data?
- Yes, if we agree on the data before the training. The price is the same with or without your data. From experience we go for your data, because people know it and work with it more easily.
- Can the course run online?
- Yes, in person or online. The program is the same, the exercises are just split into shorter blocks.
- How many people can attend?
- We recommend 12 at most, so there's time to go through the exercises with everyone. The price is per group and doesn't depend on headcount.
- Do we get a certificate?
- We don't issue certificates. Anyone who takes the knowledge test before and after the course sees their progress in numbers. For the PL-300 certification, take our course PL-300 Exam Prep.
